What are Amazon Vendor Central and Amazon Seller Central

Amazon MKTP US Meaning

When it comes to selling to Amazon, sellers can offer their products via Amazon Vendor Central and Amazon Seller Central. But what’s the difference between the two?

Amazon Vendor Central

Vendor Central registration is by invitation only. If you get an invitation you’re either a distributor or a direct manufacturer. Sellers on Amazon Vendor Central act as a supplier since they are selling their items to Amazon in bulk. Products they sell to Amazon are then sold under its brand name and not the seller’s name.

If you are a seller on Vendor Central, you are considered 1P or First Party Seller if you are the brand manufacturer of the items you sell on Amazon. A 2P or Second Party Seller on Vendor Central is an Amazon supplier and not the manufacturer.

This is a better option for those who don’t want to deal directly with Amazon customers. Buyers can tell the difference whether the items they bought are from Amazon Vendor Central by checking the Buy Box. If you see “Ships From and Sold by Amazon”, then it’s from the Vendor Central.

Amazon Seller Central

Amazon Seller Central, on the other hand, is used by sellers or merchants to sell or market their products directly to Amazon customers within the marketplace. Sellers on Seller Central are considered 3P or third-party sellers.

Sellers on Seller Central can choose to manage and ship their products on their own or let Amazon handle everything for them. Merchants who manage their orders and ship their own items are called FBM (Fulfilled By Merchant) sellers, while sellers who are enrolled in Fulfilled By Amazon program are called FBA sellers.

What are the Different Selling Plans on Amazon Marketplace US?

Amazon MKTP US Meaning

Sellers on Amazon Marketplace can choose between Individual and Professional Seller plans

Individual Seller Plan

An individual seller plan is a pay-per-use plan that gives sellers access to basic order management features and a set of listings. Individual sellers can generate listings one at a time by either connecting their products to existing Amazon pages or generating new ones.

Amazon establishes order shipping prices and which shipping service tiers businesses can provide buyers. Individual sellers do not pay Amazon fees unless and until an item sells.

Since Individual sellers don’t pay a monthly fee, they are charged $0.99 for every item they sell plus applicable referral fees. An individual selling plan will make more sense for sellers who have less than 40 items to sell each month.

Professional Seller Plan

A Professional Seller Plan allows sellers to enjoy more than the basic features that Individual sellers have access to. This means, that they get to enjoy other Amazon tools such as managing inventories using spreadsheets, reports, and feeds, managing orders using order reports, access to special listing features such as gift services and promotions, and a lot more.

If individual sellers only pay Amazon for every item they sell, Professional sellers pay a monthly subscription fee of $39.99 regardless if they sell an item or not.

Those who have more than 40 items to sell every month will earn more and make more sense with a Professional selling plan.

Conclusion

Before selling on Amazon MKTP US, it pays to know about what it is and which selling plan is more appropriate for your business.
